The Birthing Experience at Fisher-Titus

From your pregnancy to the birth of your new baby, the care and comfort that our maternity team here at Fisher-Titus will provide for you are just what you, your baby, and your family needs. Being able to provide new families with safe, secure recovery environments in our Birthing Center is something that we pride ourselves on here at Fisher-Titus. Our Birthing Center uses the latest maternal-fetal monitoring, which allows your physician to monitor you and your baby’s health 24 hours a day.

We know that there is a lot of excitement surrounding a new baby and that it is often a family affair. All family members 18 years of age or older are welcome and encouraged to celebrate the birth of the newest family member. However, for the safety of our moms and their infants, the Birthing Center limits the number of visitors permitted during labor to three persons 18 years of age or older. After the delivery, there is no limit on the number of support persons allowed in the room, including those under the age of 18. Support persons may visit from 11am - 8:30pm.

After your baby is born it is important to have time as a new family, and skin-to-skin care (Kangaroo Care) is the perfect way to get to spend special moments with your new baby. We offer and encourage Kangaroo Care for all new parents. Restful healing environments are very important for new families and while there is not a specified “Quiet Time” every day, our maternity team works hard to maintain a peaceful environment for you and your family.

It can be difficult to navigate your first few days as a mom, but you can rest assured that our maternity team is here to help you the best that they can. If you choose to breastfeed, know that Fisher-Titus has a qualified team who are more than willing to help and support you. Our team includes an International Board-Certified Lactation consultant, multiple Certified Lactation Consultants, and our nursing staff who have all received training specifically related to breastfeeding. Whether you have questions about breastfeeding, pumping, or if you need help breastfeeding, our team is happy to assist you. For your convenience, electric breast pumps are available to use during your stay.

Bluetooth Fetal Monitoring Technology

As a way to enhance your birthing experience, we are pleased to offer the Novii Wireless Patch System, which transmits fetal heart tones via Bluetooth technology. This state-of-the art technology replaces the belts and wires of traditional monitoring systems.

The Novii is patient-friendly providing freedom for natural birthing positions and no adjustment, allowing women to sleep, change position and walk around easily. It can even be used while in the shower, offering a more versatile and comfortable labor experience for mom and baby.

Kangaroo Care

We want to give you and your little one the best possible start. As soon as your baby has been safely delivered, we offer Skin-to-Skin, or Kangaroo Care. Kangaroo Care is a special way to hold your baby. Wearing only a diaper, your baby is placed directly on your chest. Doctors say this is the “best care” for your baby immediately after delivery.
