Entry into healthcare - entry into Fisher-Titus
State Tested Nurse Aides (STNA) are key members of the care team. STNAs perform a number of patient care duties under the supervision of a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or registered nurse (RN).
- Help patients with activities of daily living such as dining, dressing, bathing, and using the restroom
- Works closely with the rehabilitation team
- Transports residents within the facility
- May assist the licensed nurse with taking and recording vital signs
Entering the healthcare field
For some, the STNA position serves as a launching pad for entering the healthcare universe. Many of these individuals go on to become home health aides, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, or physicians. Others may take their STNA experience into areas of healthcare including therapies, radiology, and administration.
However, many individuals who become STNAs find they love being such an important part of a resident’s life and choose to continue in that role.
