Fisher-Titus Receives Top Grade for Hospital Safety
Fisher-Titus Medical Center was recently recognized for hospital safety, earning an “A” for the Fall 2020 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade.
“I am proud of the hard work and dedication by the Fisher-Titus team in earning this achievement,” said Brent Burkey, MD, president and CEO of Fisher-Titus. “Even as we continue to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, the quality of care we provide and the safety of our patients always comes first. We are dedicated providing the right care, right here for all who rely on us for care.”
Twice yearly, in the Spring and Fall, The Leapfrog Group releases national hospital safety grades. Leapfrog grades are a snapshot of past patient safety outcome measures and current safety process performance. The grade includes both objective standards based on 28-nationally reported measures relating to patient safety and quality of care, and a second section in which hospitals can voluntarily report ongoing efforts to ensure and improve patient safety and quality.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is administered by The Leapfrog Group, a national leader and advocate in hospital transparency. The Leapfrog Group is an independent, national not-for-profit organization founded more than a decade ago by the nation’s leading employers and private health care experts whose mission is the safety, quality and affordability of health care in the U.S. by promoting transparency through data collection and public reporting initiatives.
“Transparency in health care is important,” Burkey said. “It can be a useful guide for a patient and their families to make informed choices when selecting health care services. We encourage our community to compare quality scores and measurements when seeking where to receive their health care.”
